About Mark...

Mark Wiklund is a singer songwriter from Memphis Tennessee.  Most of his inspiration comes from his time spent in the hills of the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas at his cabin on the banks of Mill Creek.  His wife Julie plays the mandolin and provides true companionship and support for his work. Mark's daughter Kelly enjoys periodic trips to the creek house when she can for some r&r and to listen to music.  Kelly also provides inspiration to his songwriting.

Many songs on his first CD “Homeless” were born from late night jam sessions spent with a dear friend who left us behind too soon, Jim Clemons.   Mark uses his songs to visually create a place or situation and his style is inspired by  Jackson Browne, James Taylor and more contemporary artists such as Hayes Carll,.   Most folks in the south can relate to “The Armadillo” as those pesky critters lurk everywhere.  “Half Price Sinner Dinner” got its inspiration from a painting hanging on the bathroom wall at a friend’s creek house.

Mark is currently working on a new CD and spending time learning the banjo.  In addition to his Martin and Taylor, Mark uses several hand built guitars designed and built by a friend, Steve Hajdu (http://www.simpleguitars.com) in Colorado.   Stay tuned for new material and updates.
